Palpable fear has gripped the families of the seven persons kidnapped by notorious abductors at a cinema centre in Birinin Magaji town in Birinin Magaji local government area of Zamfara state as they are now demanding a ransom of N60 million.
Speaking with DAILY POST this morning in Gusau, the state capital, a close relative of one of the affected victims who declined to disclose his name due to security reasons said the kidnappers numbering over twenty stormed the cinema centre at about 9.30pm on Saturday, pretending to be guards of the viewing centre and later abducted the people.
“At exactly 9.30pm when the viewers were walking out from the viewing centre after a football match, leaving only the operators – Sanusi Sani, his brother, Zubairu Sani Kaura and Bala Dankasa, the abductors attacked them and kidnapped them and took them to an unknown destination.”
According to him, the abductors on their way to Kuya village, few kilometres to Birinin Magaji town, met other four persons whom he said they also kidnapped to make them seven.
He gave the four kidnapped persons as Yusuf shekau, Shasu DanIsiya , Bello Kwaso and Nura Mohammad.
” As I’m talking to you now, the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N60 million if we want to secure their release. We cannot even boast of N100 let alone N60 million. I am appealing to the federal and state governments to come to our aid and deploy more troops to the area so as to rescue the people as we can’t raise the money,” he pledged.
When contacted, the state Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Mohammad Shehu confirmed the incident, saying that the PMF, CTU, FSARS combined teams and conventional police personnel have been deployed to comb the whole areas to rescue the kidnapped persons and fish out the perpetrators and restore normalcy.
