FCTA to review, revoke undeveloped lands allocated for staff housing

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammad Musa Bello has vowed to review and revoke plots of land allocated to corporate organizations for staff housing estates, which have not been developed.

Bello made the pledge in a response to a request by the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Bayo Onanuga, for allocation of land for the construction of NAN housing estate.

He said that following the planned review of already allocated lands, the administration will revoke and eventually re-allocate undeveloped plots to more serious and capable organizations for the construction of staff housing estates to address the housing deficit in the FCT.

The minister assured NAN that the FCT administration will expedite action towards granting its request.

He said: “As a government agency, you are among those we term as priority an organization, because what you are requesting is not individual land but for groups of people that the government needs to assist to address the housing deficit here, especially for the middle and lower income categories of our economy.”

Bello said that focus would be placed on the development of satellite towns because most of the road construction in Abuja would be completed in the next few months.

He further decried the activities of vandals in the territory, adding that funds used to replace cables and public property that have been vandalized could be better utilized in providing other services begging for attention such as housing.
