Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Senator. Bala Mohammed, on Sunday, said an end is in sight to the traffic snarl suffered by Nigerians plying the Abuja-Keffi expressway to get to Abuja. This was as he disclosed that his administration has intensified work on the on-going construction of the Karshi-Ara-Apo road that would ease traffic on the road.

The Minister, in a release issued in Abuja by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Mohammad Sule, said: “In order to tackle the traffic congestion along the Abuja-Keffi road at Nyanya, the FCT Administration has intensified work on the on-going construction of the Karshi-Ara-Apo Road project

“This will serve as an alternative to the motorists moving towards the North-East axis of the country.”

According to the statement, Mohammed spoke when he met with some engineers of the FCT Administration on how to tackle headlong the traffic bottleneck at the Nyanya axis.

“The administration is concerned about the plight of the residents of FCT plying that route.

“That is why serious attention has been given to on-going construction work of this very important segment road,’’ Mohammed said.

While noting that the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan was a responsive one, he said the present government would do everything possible to make the traffic problem along that axis history.

Mohammed noted that construction work on the Karshi-Apo road was almost 65 per cent complete, while the Karshi-Ara axis was 25 per cent complete. He added that the total length of the Karshi-Apo axis of the road is 13.2 km and the entire distance has been cleared with all the culverts completed.

“Also, 9.0 km formation of the road has already been achieved, with 5.0 km of sub-base.

“The FCT Administration has conveniently achieved the laying of stone base as well as asphalt on this road, reaching 4.2 km and 3.0 km respectively,’’ Muhammed said.
