The Secretary to the State Government of Ekiti State (SSG), Dr. Modupe Alade on Thursday said Governor Ayodele Fayose’s aides are all living in fear in the state.
She stated that their apprehensive state was because majority of them have been penciled down by officials of the Department of the State Services, DSS for arrest.
Alade particularly said she had been receiving series of calls from some people, who claimed to be officers of the DSS and that she should make herself available.
She however vowed not to honour such invitation until she is officially invited by the DSS.
She disclosed this to reporters in Akure, the Ondo State capital, at a press conference organised by her.
Already, four lawmakers of the Ekiti State Assembly are said to be detained in the cell of the DSS in Abuja.
According to her “the DSS illicitly invaded Ekiti State House of Assembly on March 4, and bundled away four innocent lawmakers while attending committee meetings, an action that has been widely condemned by well meaning Nigerians.
“A day or two after that, the Hon. Commissioner for Finance was their guest in Abuja for three days.
“Shortly after this, a list of some Exco members to be arrested was paraded all over the state which of course, I did not take serious and which I considered as a rumour.
“Surprisingly, since this week Tuesday, I have been receiving some strange telephone calls on my phone. One of the callers, who identified himself as Paul Okafor with telephone No. +447442364448 said that I should make myself available in the DSS office, Abuja soonest.
“Subsequent calls from other anonymous numbers said that, in my own interest I should make myself availabe as there is no hiding place for me. This accounts for my addressing this press conference outside of Ekiti State”.
She accused the Federal Government of keeping mute over the illegality perpetrated by the men of the security agency with series of arrests which according to her contradicts Section 35 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.
Alade, however, vowed that they would resist all attempts by the DSS to truncate democracy in the state and in Nigeria.
The SSG faulted the Federal Government for not commenting on the activities of the DSS in the State, insisting this is against section 35 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.
She revealed that most of the people intimidated by the DSS were members of Fayose Campaign Organisation.
