Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has kicked against the emergence of Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State as chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum.
Fayose has reportedly called on other governors in the party to reject Mimiko’s election.
He has petitioned the national leadership of the party to intervene before the matter snowball into internal rancor.
The Nation reports that the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) will be meeting the party’s governors today to resolve the matter.
It was gathered that the election of Mimiko did not go down well with some governors who said the choice of Mimiko did not follow due process on grounds that Mimiko defected to the PDP from Labour Party only last year.
Mimiko emerged chairman of the Forum last week during the governors’ meeting in Abuja, where only six of the party’s 13 governors and two deputies were present.
