Chairman, Senate Committee on Air Force, Duro Faseyi has described as insult and disrespect to Ekiti State and its People, the latest purported truce between Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose and a former state secretary of the PDP Dr. Tope Aluko.
Faseyi said: “The latest development is nothing but a charade and comedy of the highest order which must not be taken seriously at all”.
Senator Faseyi made the assertion in a release made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti.
According to him, Ekiti people do not in any way appreciate the manner and ways the whole truce is being handled, therefore, it is not acceptable at all because the issue had gone beyond the duo alone.
“It was a shocking news, to hear the purported meeting between Governor Fayose and Dr. Aluko despite all the damages that had been done so far by the same Aluko over the 2014 governorship election.
“Ekiti People are wise and they cannot be deceived by the antics of Dr Aluko who had came out in different fora to discredit the wishes of the generality of Ekiti electorate over the poll.
“The scenario raised by the outcome of the 2014 governorship election in Ekiti State within the civillian and the Military in the country has gone beyond personal relationship between Governor Fayose and Dr. Tope Aluko and it must also be seen beyond that by all.
“Ekiti image has been dented and maligned because of the imbroglio, therefore the purported truce cannot be handled like a misunderstanding between a wife and husband anymore,” the Senator said.
Senator Faseyi posited that, “apart from the image of the PDP which had been destroyed as a political party, Ekiti State as an en entity has also been exposed to undeserved ridicule in the comity of States in Nigeria and beyond.
“Though, many people may see the truce between the Governor and his estwhile Political Associate Aluko as a step forward to ensure peaceful co-existence between the duo, but the truth of the matter is that, the issue had gone beyond the two Players. The images of the PDP and the State in general are already at stake.
“Integrity and honour are known to be the benchmarks of all Ekiti People in all situations but the latest development has cast a great aspersion on the image of the people of the state both at home and in diaspora, therefore the needful on the matter which is more than a secret truce must be done to salvage the image of the State.
“There has been allegations and counter-allegations over the 2014 governorship election in the State to the extend that many innocent military personel had been punished for offence not committed, how can we resolve that?” Faseyi queried.
”Governor Fayose may have a large heart to forgive people easily which is a good hallmark of a great leader but the fact remains that the issue has gone beyond him as a person due to the havoc that has been wrecked.
”Therefore, any secret meeting or resolution on the matter is not acceptable to all Ekiti People because of our integrity which we must always be protected at all times.”
