Farmers, herdsmen clash : Miyatti Allah blames politicians in Jigawa

‎Jigawa State Miyatti Allah Chairman, Sa’idu Musa Gagarawa has said that politicians are causative agent of most of the clashes taking place between farmers and herdsmen in the country.

The Chairman of Miyetti-Allah Jigawa, disclosed this through Miyetti-Allah chairman Kiri-Kasamma local government Wada Maijama’a during a one day stakeholders meeting between farmers and herdsmen organised by Jigawa State Police command in collaboration with Hadejia emirate held in Kirikasamma local government.

He said politicians and their supporters most of the time turn public property to their own, causing a lot discomfort for the users.

The Chairman maintained that authorities are not taking any action even if one reports to them because they have godfather in politics who will give them cover.

“We are doing our best to resolve the misunderstanding as we are all indigenes but politicians are turning some grazing lands and windmills to their farms,” he said.

He then urged relevant authorities to look into the problems and provide a lasting solution for the lingering crisis affecting the country.

Jigawa state commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alhaji Kabiru Ali started that the present administration under governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar was doing its best to curtail the menace of conflict between farmers and pastoralist across the state.

He explained that government was trying its best to provide conducive atmosphere for the herdsmen to move freely without any hindrance by improving all the grazing reserves and provision of over 81 windmills and re-demarcating of cattle root across the state.

Ali noted that Jigawa was the first state to established farmers/pastoralist conflicts resolution board aimed at maintaining constant dialogue between farmers and postoralist throughout the state.

The Jigawa state Police Commissioner, Bala Zama Senchi‎ said the aim of organising the meeting was to receive complains and advises from farmers and herdsmen and design a lasting solution to problems for peace to reign in the area.

He, therefore, urged them to desist from taking law into their hands and exposed anybody causing such misunderstanding for appropriate action.
