Former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the decision of a High Court in Imo, to free the 112 IPOB women, who were arrested and detained during a protest for the whereabouts of Nnamdi Kanu and his parents.

“I am delighted to hear that the 112 Igbo women that were detained in Owerri were released yesterday.

“I congratulate these beautiful, strong and courageous Amazons on gaining their freedom and I commend their lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, for his noble efforts. He led their legal team,” Fani-Kayode wrote on his verified Twitter handle on Saturday morning.

The protesters were arrested Friday, August 17 during a peaceful protest to demand a date for Biafra referendum, as well as the whereabouts of the IPOB leader, who disappeared since September 14, 2017 after the raid of his Afaraukwu Umuahia country home by security operatives.

It was gathered that the judge, in his verdict, asked the police to release them unconditionally after the bail application filed by the lead counsel to the women, Ejiofor Uche, was not opposed, as the Police had no representation in court.

The court granted the bail application, and freed the women unconditionally.
