A family of three was almost swept away from flood in Calabar, Cross River State following a heavy down pour and thunder storm Wednesday evening. The rain lasted for less than an hour.
DAILY POST gathered that heavy rain fall caused intense flooding in Calabar, the Cross River State capital causing blockage of many roads, while several properties, including electronics, furniture, certificates, cash and other personal property estimated at millions of naira were destroyed.
A victim who gave his name as Mrs Gideon Udo lamented the plight of her family, saying that similar incident occurred at the Federal Housing Estate few months ago after heavy flood hits Calabar.
At Mobil by MCC road, the heavy downpour forced water from Essien Town, penetrate a compound bolted by a gate facing Mobil Fuelling Station.
A concerned person broke into the compound from where the water was forcing itself through the gates after filling the house, inhabited by a family of three.
A family was, however, rescued alive but property worth several hundreds of thousands of naira was swept away.
