Family members of travellers burnt to death in Plateau seek justice

The Plateau State Police Command has been urged to ensure that justice is served in respect to the attack on travelers who were burnt to death around Kasa in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the State, yesterday.

Malam Salisu Abubakar on behalf of the families of five out of the nine victims while talking to newsmen made the appeal. Malam Salisu said some of the family members had to travel all the way from Sokoto to Plateau State to inquire if their relatives were among the nine people attacked while on their way to Mangu.

Malam Salisu Abubakar, the leader of the delegation noted that five of the deceased were family members.

Abubakar said, “We were communicating with them right from their departure point in Sokoto up till the time they boarded a vehicle in Jos heading to Mangu. But after that, we were unable to reach them. We later heard from the media that some travelers were ambushed and burnt to death.”

The names of those killed in the attack are; Malam Halilu Amawa, 30, Malam Habibu Musa Amawa, 50, Malam Aliyu Amawa, 30, Malam Shuaibu Amawa, 55, and Malam Lawali Dankurmi Amawa, 45.

DSP Emmanuel Abu, the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, while confirming the incident noted that investigation into the incident has started.
