With less than one month to the kick off of this year’s African Women’s Cup of Nations in Cameroon, it has emerged that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), is owing the head coach, Florence Omagbemi.
The former international, who featured in four FIFA Women’s World Cups herself, not not been paid in eight months.
However, the NFF insists that she is calm about the situation and it will be resolve before the Falcons fly out to Cameroon for the tournament.
“It’s been a challenging year for the federation financially but we’re working hard to resolve this before the team depart for Cameroon,” NFF official Chris Green told BBC Sport on Monday.
“Omagbemi has been very calm about it and it has to be sorted out as soon as possible.”
The championship takes place from November 19 to December 3 and the Falcons are in Group B with Mali, Ghana and Kenya.
