Falconets to depart for Kinshasa on Thursday

Nigeria’s U-20 women national team, the Falconets, are expected to leave Abuja on Thursday, for the first leg of their 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Coach Peter Dedevbo has named a squad of 18 players for the game, which will be played on Sunday at the Tata Raphael Stadium in Kinshasa.

Some of the prominent names invited include Chinaza Uchendu, who scored for the Super Falcons at the just concluded All Africa Games, goalkeeper Sandra Chiichii, defenders Olubunmi Elijah and Ugochi Emenayo, midfielders Joy Bokiri and Tessy Biahwo and forwards Chinwendu Ihezuo, Uchenna Kanu and Yetunde Adeboyejo.

The Falconets hammered Liberia 14-1 on aggregate in their second round qualifying fixture.

NFF Executive Committee member and Chairperson of the Nigeria Women Football League, Mrs Dilichukwu Onyedinma, will lead the delegation.
