The Abia State Police Command on Wednesday paraded a fake lawyer, Mba Akachukwu alongside twenty kidnap and robbery suspects who have been terrorizing residents of the state.
The Commissioner of Police, CP, Besan Gwana, who paraded the suspects before newsmen in the police headquarters in the state, said the fake lawyer was arrested by the Ohuru Isimiri Police Division.
He said the self-acclaimed lawyer was apprehended with fake currency notes in N1, 000 and N500 denominations, several deeds of agreements, a letter headed paper as well as two identity cards bearing Akachukwu as a chief litigation officer, and another bearing member of task force of Aba North Local Government Area, LGA.
The CP further explained that the arrests were part of the recent successes recorded by the Police, disclosing that most of the suspects had been on the wanted list.
He said, “The Police lost a detective, Sgt. Apochi Eigege, in a gun duel with armed robbers in Aba.
“The suspected kidnappers: Ogbonna Onyekachi, Chibuzo Nwankwo and Uba Friday, abducted a PDP chieftain, Mr. Ukpai Ukairo and two of his aides at Isiala Ngwa junction on Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway.
“Items recovered from them included a single barrel gun, a Toyota Venza car with registration number AKD 681 DG, belonging to the victim.
“Other suspects included Belenu Victor Chijioke, Egbuke Jibuhi, Okechukwu Maduako, and Orji Henry, who robbed one Chinedu Igwealo and Ifeoma Igwealo of an undisclosed amount of cash and laptop at gun-point at St.Michaels Road, Aba.
“Miracle Enyioko and Samson Okoro were nabbed at Obehie in Ukwa West council area, with a locally made gun with two cartridges, a blackberry phone and two Ipads,” the CP added, noting that they will soon be charged to court.
In his confession, the fake lawyer said he had severally posed as such to effect the release of suspects from detention in the city.
