Chelsea midfielder, Cesc Fabregas, has admitted that he is “sad” at his lack of first-team opportunities under Antonio Conte this season.
Conte prefers to field N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic in central midfield, leaving Fabregas on the bench.
The Spain international has started only five matches in the Premier League this campaign and made eight substitute appearances.
On Sunday, he came off the bench to replace Eden Hazard in the 71st minute. Fabregas went on to provide an assist for Gary Cahill to make it 2-0.
“That was nice,” Fabregas told Chelsea’s official website.
“I play football to win and enjoy. When I don’t play I’m sad and I don’t enjoy it but I’m happy the team is doing well.
“Football is my life, it’s everything to me. Every time I’m on the pitch I try to do my best.
“In this game it went well again so I just need to keep going and show the manager I deserve to play.”
