Liverpool new midfielder, Fabinho has denied that he was ever close to signing for Manchester United.

He said there was no concrete offer from the Red Devils.

The Anfield club completed the signing of the Brazilian, just days after losing to Real Madrid in the Champions League final in May.

The 24-year-old cost Liverpool £45million to land from Monaco.

He has since signed a lucrative five-year deal with the Reds.

Speaking with Four Four Two magazine about the speculation linking him to Old Trafford, Fabinho said: “I was never close to signing for Manchester United, no. I heard things said about it, but the truth is it was never a strong possibility.

“I won’t deny there were a few conversations about my situation with Monaco, but there was never an official offer from United.”
