Jose Mourinho has explained why Manchester United came out late for the second half in their 2-1 win over Tottenham in the FA Cup semifinal on Saturday.
The Portuguese said he had a lot of talking to do with the players and said it caused them to emerge late for the second half.
The Red Devils came out dominating the second half with an eventual 2-1 win.
Having gone behind to a Dele Alli goal, Alexis Sanchez equalised soon after with a header finish from Paul Pogba’s cross.
The sides went in at the break with the score at 1-1, but Mourinho wasn’t happy.
He told reporters after the game, “We lost control after the 1-0.
“At half-time we spoke – we came back late for the second half because we spoke a lot – and organised ourselves.”
He continued. “We should ask ourselves why there is too many critics on all of us? We can finish second with six more points.
“To do that with all the fantastic teams we play against will be an achievement for a club that couldn’t do it for a few years now.
“And it will be a fourth final in three years. So, maybe too much criticism.”
