Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, has slammed Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology, for not reversing a “clear penalty” that saw Willian booked for diving.

The Blues conceded a late equalizer against Norwich and only qualified for the FA Cup fourth round via penalties.

Willian was booked in extra time despite apparent contact.

“We need to improve if we want to use this new system. In this game there was a situation very clear, with Willian in first-half extra time. I watched it and this is a penalty.

“The referee took quickly a decision to book Willian. If you do this quickly it means you don’t have doubt.

“If you want to improve this system you have to wait to check with the person who is watching.

“At least you must have a doubt, because there is a kick to Willian. Maybe it’s not a penalty, but it’s better if you go [to VAR].

“In Italy before using this new system, they tried, tried, tried. You have to find the best solution. This is not,” Conte told reporters after the game.
