FA charges Mourinho over ‘abusive’ comment on referee, Clattenburg

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has again been charged with misconduct by the English Football Association, FA, over an abusive comment on referee, Mark Clattenburg, during Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Burnley.

An official statement from the FA said, “It is alleged that in or around the tunnel area at half-time he used abusive and/or insulting words towards a Match Official.”

He has been given until Friday evening to respond to the charge.

The controversial Portuguese coach was last week charged for a pre-match comment he made to the referee prior to his side’s recent goalless draw with Liverpool  which he did not appeal

The two incidents are likely to lead to a fine and one-game touchline ban or even a stadium ban if his previous disciplinary record is brought into consideration.

The confrontation happened after the former CF Porto manager was infuriated by the referee’s decision not to award his team a penalty when Matteo Darmian appeared to have been fouled on the edge of the penalty area in the 0-0 draw.
