The Football Association has charged Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, with misconduct for his remarks after they lost 3-1 to Southampton on Saturday.

Mourinho claimed that the referees were afraid to give his side big decisions.

“The referees are afraid to give decisions to Chelsea. Once more, we don’t get the penalty at a crucial moment in the game,” he said.

“The penalty in this game is crucial because my team, at the moment, the first negative thing that happens, they collapse.

“The penalty was a giant penalty, and after that, the team lost even more confidence.”

An FA statement said: “It is alleged his remarks constitute improper conduct in that they allege and/or imply bias on the part of a match official or match officials and/or bring the game into disrepute.”

The Portuguese has until Thursday evening to respond.
