A gathering of Eze Ndi-Igbo, made up of those presiding over the affairs of Igbos residing in the nineteen states of the North including Abuja and Oyo State have thrown their weight behind the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan.
They endorsed the President at a meeting staged at the Agura Hotels in Abuja where the royal fathers resolved that the unity, indivisibility and peaceful co-existence of all people in the country was not negotiable
The communiqué issued at the end of their meeting and signed by the group’s secretary, Eze (Dr) Pampas Nwahiwe, Eze Ndigbo of Niger State; Dr. Boniface Ibekwe, Eze Ndigbo of Kano, had the royal fathers reaffirming their commitment to the peaceful co-existence of all Nigerians irrespective of tribe, creed and religion.
They also resolved to mobilize their subjects and kinsmen to obtain their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) ahead of the February general elections, urging all Igbo nationwide to remain in their various states of abode during and after the elections, insisting that Nigeria belongs to all Nigerians.
The communiqué reads in part, “We call on the Federal Government to provide adequate security for all during the elections.
“We resolved to work for a violence free electoral process in 2015 and to affirm our support and commitment for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan for continuity of the transformation agenda of the Federal Government.”
