The Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, has challenged Niger Delta leaders to come clean on how they spent the oil derivation funds which accrued to the region over the years, wondering what difference was made in the region by a son of the soil who was in power as President for six years.

In an interview published in the current edition of The Interview, Masari called out Niger Delta leaders to “come clean” on how they managed the region’s resources, adding that during the reign of their son as President, the excess crude account was made “pocket money”.

Although the Katsina governor stopped short of calling any name, the reference to a Niger Delta president seem to be pointing to Goodluck Jonathan, the immediate past president, under whose administration the international price of crude oil averaged $100 per barrel.

“For six years we had a Niger Delta president. Let us see what difference he made in six years when he was president. When the excess crude account became pocket money, how much of the money went to the Niger Delta?” Masari asked.
