National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC, Prof Attahiru Jega, has assured Nigerians to expect free, fair and credible elections in 2015.
He also highlighted the commitment of the electoral body to review the electoral process, stating that “the 2015 election will be much more remarkable than the 2011 election.”
Jega stated this, yesterday, in Abuja at the quarterly interaction with political parties. He also unveiled the permanent voter’s card before political parties.
According to him, the restructuring that was carried out in the Commission was to put round pegs in round holes.
The INEC boss also promised to make the final copy of the Commission’s guidelines available to all political parties from today.
Commenting on the recent restructuring at the commission, Jega said, “I know that a lot has happened after our last meeting. The commission did some restructuring and reorganization The Commission did this across the country to ensure that round pegs are put in round holes, to ensure improvements in competences ahead of the 2015 election.”
On the permanent voters card, Jega said “We want to use this opportunity to brief you about the production of permanent voters card as well as the innovations we are introducing to enhance the accreditation of voters’ registration and ensure that we have efficient electoral process in 2015.”
He continued “we are aware of how important it is for you to know so that you can also enlighten your party members.”
On the guidelines, Jega said “You are also aware that we discussed the outline of guidelines for political parties. We took some of your inputs, the final draft has been finalized and a signed copy will be published. We will make advance copies available to you today
