Exams suspended as FUPRE Staff embark on strike over non-payment of salaries

Examinations were yesterday suspended as Academic and non-Staff of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, FUPRE Friday embarked on a strike over non-payment of their salaries, gratuities and other welfare benefits by the Institution, DAILY POST is reporting.

The main entrance gate of the institution was locked by the staff, stopping the examinations that were to hold yesterday.

The angry staff were afraid to speak with DAILY POST for fear of not being victimised.

They prevented Everyone from snapping their photographs with cameras and mobile phones.

Contacted on the phone twice for clarification on the matter, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Petroleum Resources, Prof. Akii Ibhadode responded thus,” Sorry, I can’t talk right now.”

The Public Relations Officer of the Institution, Mr. Boniface said,” I don’t know about that. You can reach the Registrar. I don’t have grasp of what is on ground now.”
