Six students of the University of Port Harcourt have been expelled for engaging in examination malpractice.

The expelled students include four from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences who were caught in examination malpractice during the 2015/2016 second semester examination.

A male postgraduate student in the Department of Educational Management was also rusticated, while a female student in the College of Health Sciences was expelled after it was discovered that she previously failed in the Bachelor of Medicine programme.

The decisions were taken by the UNIPORT Senate at its four hundred and thirty-second meeting, which held last Thursday.

A statement from the UNIPORT Management also indicates that some members of staff are also being investigated by the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee for alleged complicity in the scam.

Additionally, seven officials of the university were slammed with indefinite suspension for allegedly taking part in the demolition of a building under construction within the university campus.

The spokesman for the University of Port Harcourt, William Wodi, has confirmed the development.
