A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Lawal David Babachir, has stated that he has nothing to do with Amina Mohammed, an alleged impersonator and scammer, who accused him in a confessional statement as being in a property-buying scam she was accused of planning.
Amina Mohammed, pretending to be Kogi State first lady, gained entrance into the Aso Presidential Villa from where while impersonating wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, invited one Dr Alexander Chika Okafor (alias Chikason) who later accused her of duping him of N150 million over a Court of Appeal property in Lagos that he had interest in buying.
Upon her arrest and while being paraded by the Directorate of State Security (DSS) in Abuja on Monday, Amina Mohammed denied involvement in the said crime, alleging instead that Chikason, Babachir and one of the sisters of Aisha Buhari were the liable ones.
Reports quoted her as saying, “It’s not true. Chikason has been buying property from the Federal Government and he has been doing it and you all know all the directors that are involved. They should ask the First Lady’s sister, Mariatu is involved, Babachir Lawal knows about this.”
But Babachir has now come out to say that Amina Mohammed was only making desperate moves to link him to the ongoing investigation about her alleged crimes.
“I wish to state unequivocally clear here that I do not know the said Amina Mohammed or any of her accomplices, much less involved in the activities she is being accused of. I do not know the Mrs Buhari’s sister named Maryatu she mentioned or any one called Chicason whom she also mentioned. I am therefore at a total loss as to her motive or those of her sponsors for linking my name with her alleged criminal activities,” Babachir said.
The former SGF stated that he is not into property business hence does not know anything about the sale of government properties, and that he had briefed his lawyers on the matter for appropriate legal action to be instituted against her.
