Ex-Minister, Shagari heads Ondo PDP primary committee


The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caretaker committee led by Ahmed Markaffi has set up a five-man committee for the party’s governorship primary in Ondo State.

PDP has already fixed next Monday, August 22, for the exercise.

The party’s electoral committee is headed by former Minister of Water, Muhktar Shagari.

Shagari, while addressing reporters at the party secretariat in Akure, the state capital said the process for the primary began on Thursday (yesterday) with the election of three adhoc delegates in each of the 203 wards across the 18 local government areas.

He noted that the party was expecting 609 adhoc delegates to vote for the party’s candidate.

Shagari said the electoral body set up by the national body was in the state to make things done democratically with due process.

He assured that the electoral committee would ensure it conduct credible and transparent election by adhering strickly to the constitution of the party.

The party State Chairman, Mr. Clement Faboyede, disclosed that the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) had been notified.
