Ex-militants lament sale of amnesty slots

Ex-militants under the Federal Government phase II amnesty programme have accused some officials at the office of the Special Assistant to the President on Niger Delta Affairs of allegedly selling slots meant for the training of ex-militants to influential Nigerians for N500, 000 each.

Speaking on behalf of the ex-militants in Ughelli, Delta Sate, leader of a former militant group, Okurugbolu Amphibiou barrack, General Clinton Ebiama, further dismissed reports that ex-militants were paid by the Federal Government to perpetrate violence during the just concluded governorship election in Bayelsa State.

“This has been the case during the Kinsley Kuku era. Now these individuals are perpetuating the same act under the tenure of Gen. Paul Boroh (Retd).

“We are using this opportunity to sound a note of warning to President Muhammad Buhari to be watchful of what is happening in amnesty office because the good intentions of his administration are gradually being truncated by these individuals,” Ebiama said.
