Chairman of the Amnesty Implementation Committee, Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh (rtd) was yesterday absolved by some ex-militant leaders and the Ijaw Youth Congress, IYC, over his alleged diversion of welfare packages meant for ex-militants.
The ex-militant leaders under the aegis of Leadership, Peace and Cultural Development Initiatives (LPCDI) led by Pastor Reuben Wilson pointed out that the committee chaired by Boroh had remained focused and incorruptible in the handling of the welfare issues meant for ex-militant youths in the region.
“We appeal therefore to all greedy and selfish politicians to please hands off that office and allow Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh to continue with the good and selfless work he is doing. And we will like to commend President Muhammad Buhari for the good work he is doing by extending the Amnesty program,” he said.
On its part, the IYC through its President, Comrade Udenz Eradiri, asserted that the accusations of corruption against the Amnesty boss was a plot by some aggrieved governorship aspirants interested in hijacking the Amnesty Office and turning it into a cash cow.
Eradiri declared that though the ‘‘identity of the politicians involved in the plot to discredit and remove Boroh are known we stand by the position of the ex-militant leaders.’’
