The Minister of State for Agriculture, Heineken Lokpobiri, and former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, on Monday reportedly led a protest against the killings of All Progressives Congress, APC, members in the state.
Sylva, Lokpobiri and other party leaders were said to have shut down the popular Mbiama-Yenagoa Road as they marched about six kilometres to the state command of the Nigerian Police, The Nation reports.
DAILY POST earlier reported that one person on Saturday was killed while two others sustained injuries; after thugs attacked members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a rally in Sagbama area of Bayelsa.
A resident in Sagbama Local Government Area, who witnessed the incident, said that about 15 thugs used dangerous weapons to disperse people at the event.
“The governor of Bayelsa who is leader of rival PDP hails from Sagbama and the place is considered a base of PDP and it is the rivalry that played out and went sour,” one witness said.
