Ex-FUTA Vice Chancellor kidnapped in Akure

A former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure, (FUTA), Prof. Albert Adeoye Ilemobade was on Monday kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

The Septuagenerian was reportedly abducted early morning, alongside his gateman at his residence at Ijapo in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

A source within the family said it was his maid who discovered that the former VC was nowhere to be found when he woke up in the morning and subsequently raised the alarm.

The abductors, who reportedly went with his car later abandoned it along Ijare road, in Ifedore Council Area of the State.

Family members, friends and acquaintances have begun to besiege his Ijapo residence.

His abductors are yet to make any contact with the family as at the time of filing this report.

Confirming the incident, the State Police PRO, Wole Ogodo said secrity operatives had commenced investigation on the matter.

Prof. Ilemobade was the Vice-Chancellor of FUTA between 1987 and 1995.
