Gov Isa Yuguda
Erstwhile Governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, giving his reason as the party’s lack of capacity to bring the needed development the people deserve.
Speaking on Saturday with newsmen, Yuguda said his decision to dump the opposition party was based on personal reasons.
The former governor stated that remaining in the party would be unfair to himself and his supporters, adding that what is currently going on in the party was contrary to the doctrine of his Islamic religion.
He said, “As of today, I have resigned my membership of the PDP because of personal reasons. I have had enough troubles in the party.
“The PDP is no longer the party that can give Nigerians the kind of future they are looking for. I have given serious thought to what has been happening in the party, what has happened to me and what has happened also to our country at large and I feel it will only be wise for me to quit the party.
“Looking back at what happened in the country under the PDP, if I continue staying in the party, I will not be fair not only to myself but to my teeming Bauchi supporters, who gave me the mandate to serve them for eight years as governor.”
The former Governor, however, denied reports that he had pitched his tent with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, or resigning totally from politics.
Yuguda noted that he is going to rest from politics for a year before making a return after wide consultations.
