Even Nigerians on the street know Buhari, Saraki not at ‘war’ – Enang

The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, on Friday dismissed speculations of a rift between his principal and Senate President, Bukola Saraki

Enang, who spoke with journalists in his office, said Wednesday night meeting with the president and the leadership of the National Assembly led by Saraki was a proof that there was no ‘war’ between them.

His words: “The gains of that meeting are as stated by the president of the senate in his briefing of the media after the meeting.

“I am sure you can begin to feel the political temperature that peace had descended in the minds and psyche of Nigerians and that the relationship between the executive and the legislature which was thought to be on heat, had been fully, perfectly, effectively cemented and the public is now aware.

“I want to say that the conjectures as they were, of a rift between the executive and the legislature were in all honesty, a conjecture, there wasn’t any rift. The meeting between the president and the National Assembly leadership, as it were as stated by the senate president, really proved that there were no rift.

“The senate president said ‘those small talks’ were taken by the public to mean that there was a crisis and division and I think that has laid it to rest.

“Even most Nigerians on the street know that there is a perfect relationship between the executive and the legislature.

“The executive maintains its powers under the constitution and was aware that it is the legislature that would approve your measures, your budget, and even ministerial nominees.” .
