Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has reacted to his side’s draw with CSKA Moscow in the quarter final of the Eurupa Leagie.
The Frenchman also admitted that Spanish side, Atletico Madrid are the team to avoid in the Europa League semi-finals.
Arsenal advanced to the last four of the competition after coming past CSKA Moscow 6-3 on aggregate.
It means they go into the draw alongside Atletico Madrid, FC Red Bull Salzburg and Marseille.
Atletico Madrid advanced 2-1 on aggregate against Sporting Lisbon, despite losing 1-0 in the second leg.
Wenger told reporters after the game, “I feel that maybe we were a bit surprised by the intensity at the start.
“After that, we came back. They scored the second, had a chance for the third. It was a good response from us after the break, the first half the distances were too big. At 2-1 we looked good to get to 2-2 and we did.
“We were in trouble in the first half. After moving to a back five we were more stable, didn’t concede as many chances. Their second was from distance, but in the box we didn’t give anything away.”
On avoiding a team like Atletico Madrid, he added, “Ideally [we would wish to avoid them].
“Maybe they are the strongest on paper,” he told BT Sport.
“Let’s just play well against the team we get,” he added.
