Former Manchester United and Bayern Munich star, Owen Hargreaves hailed Ruben Loftus-Cheek as Chelsea’s ‘best player’ in the Europa League semi-final draw with Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany on Thursday.
Chelsea recorded a crucial 1-1 away draw with an advantage going into the second leg at the Stamford Bridge next week.
Pedro Rodriguez cancelled out Luka Jovic’s opener in Germany.
Loftus-Cheek impressed as Chelsea took control of the match after Jovic’s header, creating a number of chances and assisting Pedro for the equaliser.
And Hargreaves told BT Sport, “I think Ruben deserves special praise for his performance tonight.
“In a semi-final, as a 23-year-old… he was Chelsea’s best player.
“I thought he was terrific. In the second half I thought Chelsea were terrific as a whole actually.
“The first 30 minutes they were surprised by Frankfurt’s intensity but they grew in the game and could have had a second goal.
“Once Pedro’s goal went in Frankfurt ran out of confidence and energy.”
