Former Arsenal star, Martin Keown has singled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for blame during the Gunners’ 0-0 draw against Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League on Monday.
Arsenal struggled to get into the game against the Portuguese side, but did have several chances to snatch a win but failed to do so.
Aubameyang came on towards the end of the first half after an injury to Danny Welbeck and saw three excellent chances pass him by.
The striker is usually lethal in front of goal, but Keown says Aubameyang needs to step up at the club.
“Aubameyang let Arsenal down,”Keown said on BT Sport.
“He is the closest thing to Thierry Henry since he left that club. He really is that good. And someone should really be in his camp pushing him on.
“Dragging him, drawing a performance out of him. Because he’s a special talent, scores lots of goals and it’s just a hunger.
“It’s getting to that boiling point and I don’t think he was there tonight.”
The Gabon international already has nine goals to his name in 14 appearances this season but he still battles with Alexander Lacazette for a spot upfront at Arsenal.
