Arsenal on Thursday night made history in their 3-0 victory over Rennes in the UEFA Europa League at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal defeated the French Ligue 1 side 3-0 following a 3-1 loss in the first-leg to advance 4-3 on aggregate to the quarter-finals of Europe’s second-tier club competition.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struck either side of an Ainsley Maitland-Niles goal as the North London side joined local rivals, Chelsea.

According to Goal, Arsenal became only the second team since the rebranding of the Europa League to progress after losing the first leg of a knockout tie 3-1.

Unai Emery’s men will tackle Newcastle United in their next fixture in the Premier League.
