Juventus forward, Cristiano Ronaldo has provided update on his injury after hobbling out of Portugal’s 1-1 draw with Serbia on Monday night.
Ronaldo pulled up clutching his thigh in the 31st minute, with his side trailing behind to Dusan Tadic penalty and, after receiving treatment, eventually hobbled down the tunnel and was replaced by Pizzi.
Despite the absence of their star player, Portugal managed to level the scores, after a stunning strike from Danilo Pereira, making them share the points with the visitors.
Juventus will take on Ajax in Amsterdam in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on April 10. However, Ronaldo has no fears that he will miss the match.
“My injury? I’m not worried,” Metro UK quoted him as saying after the match.
“I know my body and in two weeks’ time I’ll be ready to play again.”
That time frame given by Ronaldo would see him return just in time to face Ajax, though he would miss Serie A games against Empoli, Cagliari and AC Milan.
Portugal has failed to win in both of their opening Euro 2020 qualifying matches, against Ukraine and now Serbia, though Ronaldo said he is not worried.
“I sincerely think we played well in the two games,” he continued.
“Tonight one of those games when ball wouldn’t go in.
“The penalty was clear, if we have VAR in all other competitions why not here? If you understand football you see Portugal deserves to win both games.”
