The 2014 World Cup qualifying game between Ethiopia and Nigeria on Sunday, will not be screened on terrestial television, after local broadcasters refused to pay $500,000 demanded by Sport Five.
The French company holds the rights for the game and have valued it at that amount, but the Nigerian broadcasters are not prepared to offer up to that.
“We cannot afford over N80 million when our biggest advertisers will pay not more than N5million for the game,” an official told KickOffNigeria.
“It is not feasible.”
The game will however be transmitted live on SuperSport.
