The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Yunusa Dahiru, the alleged abductor of 14-year-old Ese Oruru.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, Shaibu Lawan, made this disclosure on Thursday while addressing a news conference in the state.
Lawan said Yunusa will be prosecuted for taking away a minor from her parents.
DAILY POST recalls that the Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, Olabisi Kolawole yesterday, disclosed during a press briefing held at the force headquarters in Abuja that Yunusa, a tricycle operator was in their custody.
It was also gathered that Yunusa who may be charged with kidnapping and child abuse as well as violence, will be moved from detention at the Force Headquarters in Abuja to Yenegoa to be properly interrogated and prosecuted accordingly.
Meanwhile, the AIG, while confirming that Yunusa had been arrested, denied any involvement of the Kano Emirate Council on the issue.
According to him, the Emir wrote officially to the then AIG, Tambari Yabo, to ensure the handing over of the girl to her parents.
