Ese Oruru: I want to know why her rescue was delayed over 5 months – IGP

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, on Wednesday, ordered the setting up of a panel of inquiry to unravel reasons behind the delay in the rescue of Ese Oruru, who was since last August abducted from her homestead in Bayelsa State and taken to Kano where she was allegedly forced to marry a certain Yunusa.

Arase, while meeting with journalists and the mother of the abducted girl at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, noted that Ese’s rescue was delayed for over five months.

Meanwhile, the Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, Olabisi Kolawole, had during a press conference in Abuja yesterday, confirmed that Ese’s father, Charles, had reported the matter to the police since August last year.

The FPRO in her briefing, however stated that the delays were as a result of “bureaucratic processes.”
