As news spread about the demise of gospel singer, Eric Arubayi, his friends have been paying their tributes and sharing some of their last moments with him.
DAILY POST gathered that in recent time, the singer had been making some comments that began to make deeper meanings to his friends and associates after his demise.
A childhood friend of Eric, Mr. Festus Avwerosuo, reported that one of Eric’s last wishes, when he (Eric) confided in him during their meeting in Sapele, Delta State about 40 days ago, was his desire to record one last hit song that would catapult him to super-star status in the Nigerian Music Industry.
Another close associate of his, who asked not to be mentioned, told DAILY POST that Eric recently said: “Dear God, I’m placing 2017 in your hands as I walk away.”
Incidentally, he innocently replied him it was the “best decision” to take in life.
One protégé of Eric, Abies Zuwa, reported that the singer died of liver failure caused by an expired anti-malaria drug he took earlier in the week.
Lamenting the menace of dispensing expired drugs in pharmacies and drug stores across the nation, Zuwa said: “Here we go again battling with expired drugs. The expiry date might have been erased or even changed just to make sales.
“When will Africa’s poverty end, and when will Nigerians start having the conscience of not selling expired consumables? Eric Arubayi! Rest in Christ!”
DAILY POST also learnt that barely two weeks ago, Eric told his over 25,000 fans on Instagram that every accomplishment starts with a desire to try so they should trust in God and try.
The late singer’s last words to a colleague, the multiple award-winning vocalist, Timi Dakolo, was apt but deep. He told him: “Brother, Shine!”
The late Eric Arubayi passed on the same date as Grammy award winning singer Whitney Houston, but five years after. He was the son of an ex-Vice Chancellor of Delta state University – Prof. Eric Arubayi.
