Former Chelsea striker, Gianfranco Zola has identified defender, Kurt Zouma as the player that will lose his position at the club following their Premier League 4-0 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford.
Two goals from Marcus Rashford and a strike from Anthony Martial and Daniel James handed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side all three points against Frank Lampard’s men.
Zouma, who spent last season on loan at Everton, gave away a penalty in the first half for an awkward foul on Rashford, who converted his spot-kick to put the Red Devils in front.
But Zola now believes that the France international will lose his place to Antonio Rudiger once the Germany international fully recover from a knee surgery.
According to him, Rudiger will form a suitable partnership with Andreas Christensen at Chelsea’s centre-back.
“Certainly, Zouma will drop to the bench when Rudiger becomes available. Rudiger has got more experience,” Zola told beIN Sports.
“I think he has a better understanding with Christensen. I believe if they want to play out from the back, Rudiger and Christensen will be more suitable.”
Zola added: “I totally think the score was very unfair because they deserved something more.
“There were a lot of positive things going forward and in the build-up but they will have to improve more defensively.”
