EPL: Why Mourinho should drop Pogba from Manchester United squad – Ex-France player Cascarino

Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho, has been advised to continue keeping French midfielder, Paul Pogba on the bench.

Cascarino said it was not enough dropping Pogba in United’s 2-0 win against small club like Huddersfield on Saturday.

The France star came on with 25 minutes left at Old Trafford after being named as a sub following his poor performance in United’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham three days earlier.

United eased past the Terries with youngster Scott McTominay proving an able partner to Nemanja Matic in United’s midfield.

Cascarino, a former French international, is of the opinion that Mourihno should also keep Pogba out in a bigger game if the Portuguese really wants to prove a point.

He told talkSPORT, “I was very critical of Paul Pogba after his performance in Manchester United’s defeat away to Tottenham in midweek.

“Jose Mourinho responded to that display by leaving him out, but it is the easiest thing in the world to drop someone against Huddersfield. The big call is to leave him out for a big game.

“It is another thing altogether if Mourinho leaves him out against one of the big six teams. “Huddersfield, given the way they are playing, pose little threat.

“Scott McTominay is a gifted lad, but he is very conservative. He is a much safer option than Pogba.

“He is not going to give much away and he will sit deep. But the real test for him — and for Mourinho — will come against Seville or Liverpool this month.”
