Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri, has explained why he used his star forward, Eden Hazard and loan signing, Mateo Kovacic as second-half substitutes in their 3-2 win over Arsenal.
Both players impressed off the bench and Sarri said the duo are not yet able to play 90 minutes.
Two goals from Pedro and Alvaro Morata gave the home side the lead earlier in the first half before Mkhitaryan andAlex Iwobi levelled for the visitors.
Hazard introduction helped the Blues to a perfect start to the new season after the Belgian’s cross in the box found Marcos Alonso who slotted past Petr Cech to make it 3-2.
Speaking to BBC on his decision to use Hazard and Kovacic as substitutes, Sarri said, “In this moment, they are not able to play the full 90 minutes.
“Also, I think to play 25-30 mins when the intensity of the game is going down, is better.
“I think Mateo can become a great player.”
