It has emerged why former Premier League champions, Manchester United missed out on signing Inter Milan star, Ivan Perisic during last two summer’s transfer window.
Perisic was high prospect in United manager, Jose Mourinho’s transfer list in 2017 and had been identified as the perfect winger to supply striker, Romelu Lukaku with service from wide areas.
The Croatia international was desperate to move to Old Trafford but Inter valued him at around £48million.
According to Evening Standard, the Red Devils failed to sign Perisic because United’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward refused to pay an extra £3million for the 29-year-old.
The report claimed that the amount was slightly above United’s £45million valuation of the forward and Woodward refused to agree in the dying days of the window despite knowing that the deal could get done.
United’s failure to sign Perisic led to the arrival of forward Alexis Sanchez in January from Arsenal, and the Old Trafford club made the Chilean international the highest paid player in their history.
