EPL: Why Chelsea beat Huddersfield – Sarri

Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri has explained why his side beat Huddersfield 3-0 on Saturday evening in their Premier League opener.

Goals from N’Golo Kante, debutant Jorginho and Pedro secured the victory for the Blues.

Speaking to BBC Sport after his first Premier League match at the helm, Sarri, who became the ninth consecutive Chelsea manager to avoid defeat in his first EPL game, said the game against The Terriers was difficult than the result.

The 59-year-old also said that his players had suffered for 20 minutes to get the victory at the John Smith’s Stadium.

“The game was more difficult than the result,” Sarri said.

“If you see the result you think it was a very easy match but in the first half it was very difficult against physical opponents.

“We are not a physical team so for 20 minutes we were in trouble but we did very well. In this moment we are not at the top of our potential but we had the capacity to suffer for 20 minutes in the first half.

“Now, it depends on me and the players. The situation until now has been very difficult. On Monday, four players from the World Cup arrived. And then on Tuesday another two, so it’s not been easy for me at the moment. Hopefully, two months and not three, before we reach top form,” he added.
