EPL: Why Arsenal, Manchester United sent scouts to watch 19-year-old German midfielder

English Premier League giants, Arsenal and Manchester United have each sent scouts to watch Hertha Berlin midfielder, Arne Maier on a number of occasions in recent weeks.
According to German outlets, Sport1 and Sport Bild, the Gunners and United sent scouts to watch Maier playing in the Bundesliga as well as in Hertha’s DFB-Pokal match last month because they are both interested in the U21 German international.
Maier, who plays as a defensive midfielder, is contracted to Berlin until 2022.
The 19-year-old has played the full 90 minutes in all of Berlin’s matches this season.
His club is yet to lose a game so far, and clearly Maier’s part in that is something the big clubs are picking up on.
He broke into Berlin’s senior team last season making 17 Bundesliga appearances.
