Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba has reacted to Red Devils’ 3-1 defeat to Tottenham at Old Trafford on Monday.
Manchester United suffered a humiliating loss to Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the Premier League last night thanks to goals from Harry Kane and Lucas Maura (twice)
The French midfielder said United did not deserve the defeat.
The Red Devils were well on top in the first half at Old Trafford and should have gone ahead when Romelu Lukaku rounded Hugo Lloris, though the Belgian striker’s shot dragged wide off the far post.
But Tottenham came back stronger in the second half and ripped through United’s defence line, with Harry Kane’s header and a brace from Moura securing a thumping 3-0 win.
Afterwards, Pogba could scarcely believe that United had suffered such a heavy loss after a largely promising performance.
He said the team will bounce back against Burnley. “Even we don’t understand,” Pogba told RMC Sport after the match.
“We started the game really well, and we concede two goals in the second half. That was tough to take.
“The first goal, we did not understand, because we had the match in our hands. One goal, two goals… we continued to push, we had chances, and then we concede the third.’
“Our fans were still pushing us. We are really sorry for them, and really disappointed, we wanted to do better.
“I think that this is a defeat that we did not deserve. When you want something… football can be cruel.
“We just have to bounce back. It will not be easy but it is only the beginning of the season. We are going to continue, you should not be worried. We are Manchester United and we will never give up.”
