Executive Vice Chairman, Ed Woodward has told friends that Jose Mourinho’s position at Manchester United is not currently under threat, according to The Guardian UK.
The Portuguese is seemingly under intense pressure at Old Trafford after back-to-back defeats to Brighton and Tottenham in the opening three Premier League matches of the season.
The former Chelsea boss did not also get the top-class central defender he wished for in the summer transfer window.
Woodward was unwilling to approve the signing of Leicester City’s Harry Maguire or Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham.
Earlier reports in the United Kingdom suggested that Mourinho has been at war with Woodward over a lack of ambition in the transfer market but The Guardian reports that this could not be further from the truth.
The newspaper claimed that their relationship is “stronger than ever” and the CEO has told his close friends that Mourinho’s job does not depend on United getting a result at Burnley this weekend.
Mourinho has even been signing off texts to Woodward with a message for his young children “kisses to the twins”.
Woodward has been at United’s Carrington training ground more than ever in recent weeks but it’s believed this has nothing to do with Mourinho’s future.
