EPL: What it would cost Man Utd to sack Solskjaer revealed

Manchester United will have to pay out around £7million, if they decide to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to the UK Metro.

The Norwegian is already fighting for his job at Old Trafford, after a poor start to the season, which has seen the team win only two of their opening eight fixtures.

Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Newcastle, means United have made their worst start to a league campaign in 30 years and Solskjaer is now fearful that a heavy defeat against Liverpool at home, will give the board no option but to sack him.

United’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, announced record revenues of £627m in September and that figure included a £19.6m pay-off for Jose Mourinho and his backroom team following their departures in December 2018.

United paid-up David Moyes’ contract following his departure in 2014, as a goodwill gesture to the Scot and managerial sackings have proven costly for the Red Devils since Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to resign in 2013.

As such, Woodward was determined to avoid another costly mistake when he appointed Solskjaer, with the £7m pay-off the Norwegian is in line to receive the lowest in United’s modern history.
